The IDS dental meeting in Cologne, Germany happened last week and there were so many great things to come out of the meeting. Here are some of my favorite new things to come out:
- 3-Shape wireless scanner: as a 3-shape owner, I know how cumbersome the wired gun or pen can be. With the new wireless scanner with “insane mode”, we can keep things clean and less scary for our patients. This will be a game changer
- DSD and Invisalign: Finally an aligner company has recognized the importance of Digital Smile Design and they have teamed up. This will allow practitioners to move teeth while thinking of the face either to align for proper midline and incisal edge position or for pre-restorative treatment. This will be something we use daily in our practice.
- PIC Camera: the PIC camera will help all of us who do full-mouth treatment get the most passive fit possible. With this camera, you can put these little things that look like dominos on each implant and then take a digital photo which acts as your digital impression without any distortion. This will same remakes and fractures of frameworks.
I am looking forward to using and teaching all of these technologies very soon. It is a great time to be a dentist!
